🎓 Synopsis:

Learn the essential techniques and skills of traditional batik-making, from waxing and coloring to the final wax removal process. This hands-on course is perfect for beginners who want a deeper understanding of batik art through structured, creative lessons.

📚 Course Overview:

• 🕒 Total Duration: 8 hours (divided over 4 lessons)

• 💼 Location: At myBatik, or on-site (additional transportation fee applies)

• 🛠️ Materials & Tools: All provided

• 🧑‍🎨 Projects: 4 unique projects — complete each lesson on different days (flexible scheduling)

🔸 Lesson 1: Batik Coloring (30 minutes)

• Learn how to mix colors from primary shades

• Practice coloring on a pre-waxed batik design (30cm x 30cm cotton)

• Remove wax using iron and newspaper

🖌️ Assignment: Creative coloring on pre-waxed design

🔸 Lesson 2: Batik Block Stamping (1 hour)

• Learn to use batik wood blocks dipped in hot wax to create repeated patterns

• Apply your design to a calico bag

• Fix color by soaking in sodium silicate

• Wash out with hot water and soda ash after 5 hours

🔸 Lesson 3: Batik Canting & Layering (2 hours)

• Learn how to use the canting tool to draw wax lines

• Explore layering and color toning on 50cm x 50cm white fabric

• Practice overlapping wax and color applications for depth and detail

• Fix and wash as in previous lessons

🖌️ Assignment: Layered color + canting lines batik piece

🔸 Lesson 4: Batik Masterpiece (4 hours 30 minutes)

• Combine techniques: block stamping + canting

• Apply wax directly onto 100cm x 100cm cotton fabric

• Explore cracking wax for textured color effects

• Final fix and wash for professional finishing

🖌️ Assignment: Create a full-sized batik masterpiece
