Batu Seremban (also known as Five Stones) is a traditional Malaysian game that is also played in other Southeast Asian countries with slight variations. It’s a simple but fun game usually played by children, and it helps to develop hand–eye coordination, concentration, and dexterity.
• Origin: Malaysia (also found in Singapore, Indonesia, and Brunei with variations).
• Players: Usually 2 or more.
• Equipment: 5 small objects – traditionally stones, but nowadays people use small beanbags sewn from cloth and filled with rice, sand, or seeds.
🎮 How to Play
1. Preparation:
• Place all 5 stones (or beanbags) on the ground.
2. Gameplay (basic rules):
• A player throws one stone into the air and quickly picks up another stone from the ground, then catches the first stone before it falls.
• Continue until all stones are picked up in sequence.
3. Levels of the Game:
The game usually has 5 stages (sometimes more):
• Level 1: Pick up 1 stone at a time.
• Level 2: Pick up 2 stones at a time.
• Level 3: Pick up 3 stones, then 1 stone.
• Level 4: Pick up all 4 stones at once.
• Level 5: Toss all 5 stones, catch them on the back of your hand, then toss them again and catch in the palm.
4. Winning:
• A player wins by completing all the levels without mistakes. If a stone drops, or the thrown stone isn’t caught, the turn passes to the next player.
